Watch Sonia Sotomayor’s Senate Confirmation Ushered In By Stewart Smalley
6 August 2009, 4:48 PM. By Cindy Casares
This afternoon, round about 3:14 Washington D.C. time, the United States Senate voted, 68-31, to let a little brown girl from the South Bronx into the Supreme Court of The United States. Let us not miss this opportunity to reflect. With Al Franken.
First the tape:
And now the reflection:
Al Franken was a comedian and now he’s a senator. A black dude is in the White House. A brown lady is on the Supreme Court. We get paid to write cartoons about talking vaginas. Ladies and gentleman, this is a great country. Let us raise a glass: To Sonia Sotomayor who, today, is our inspiration, our hope and our crowning jewel. ¡Salud! ¡Y que viva America!

I don’t even know what that means, but have fun!
California Academy of Sciences? NightLife? Have fun.
yah, totally nightlife at cal academy. SF is nerdy enough that I will not be surprised if there’s a few drunk überliberals toasting to her. we’ll see.
So, if I just wander up on to SoBro, I’m bound to run into a Sotomayor party or several, right?
Amigos, this is a very special day for all us Puerto Ricans. Almost as good as the first time we saw Rosie Perez on the big screen–in Spike Lee’s movie “Do the Right Thing.”
