This just in: Cindy will be at the LA meeting and San Antonio is in serious danger of getting canceled if we don't get a few more sign-ups. So far, we have only one.
Hey Guanababies, if you live in or around Los Angeles, San Antonio, New York City, San Francisco or Austin, the editorial staff of Guanabee is planning a little meet-up/focus group for a few readers in each city. This is your chance to tell us what you like and don't like about the site and, even more exciting, your chance to meet one of our Guanabee editors. Daniel Mauser will make a special pilgrimage to Los Angeles, Alex Alvarez and Daniel Mauser will be in New York, Alejandro Paz of Anyguey will be in San Francisco and Cindy Casares will be in Austin and San Antonio. So, email us at tips@guanabee.com if you can be in one of those cities in the next few weeks and we'll arrange the date. It's guaranteed to be awko taco for everyone involved! (Which is why drinks and snacks are on us.)

WHOO HOO! Come here, little Alejandro, muahahha! I work & lurk in SF!
ReplyIf you're lucky, one of us might even zap you with our red laser eyes.
ReplyOh He-Alex, you ARE in trouble!!!!!!! Right here waiting...
ReplyHAHA... He-Alex all the ladies want you! I was planning on going to new york next week.. but it got canceled because I dont have money... but if you give me a place to crash, I'll meet up with She-Alex & Mr Mauser. If not I guess I'll settle for He-Alex... Just that if drinks are involved not sure how much meeting/focusing will get done.
ReplyShit, if it's gonna be that kind of party, I'm gonna stick my dick in the mashed potatoes.
ReplyUh mashed potatoes??? Uhhh...yum...nom nom???
ReplyMr. Mauser is so dreamy... :sigh:
ReplyWhy thank you
ReplyI think you're scaring he-alex.
ReplyHey Guys, if you really want to come, please email tips@guanabee.com. Danke.
ReplyI want to meet Alex, fly down here to SF, NY is too far...
ReplyYou cocksucking dinglefucks cropped my face from my birthday picture?! AHHAHQHAHAHAHAHA
ReplyConsider it a late present
Replyyes yes i want to go yeah!
ReplyYou already gave me a bajillion dollar camera bag, memer? I want to sign up for the god damn media orgy you're trying to have. Put me on the list!
Replyhey it would be very interesting getting to be with ll of you guys would just love to and have some taquitos mmmmmmmmmm with guacamole mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Replyno LA love? :(
ReplyI have rented a Winnebago. Who wants to go the Guanabee road trip---we start in NY, hit Austin, and then SF---it will be the trip of a lifetime.......
Replywhat about la-la?
ReplyWe don't have any writers based there.
ReplyYou don't have writers based in Austin either, but Cindy plans to travel there, from NYC. So, as others have asked before, why not LA instead of San Fran? Why not San Antonio instead of Austin? Hmm...sounds like you guys are trying to exclude certain types of Latinos. Kinda sad. :(
ReplyCindy lives in Austin; Alex P. lives in San Francisco. Daniel and I are in NYC. That's why those are the meet-up locations. And if you mean we're trying to exclude Latinos who are paranoid, then: Yes. We are. Update: Aw, see what we did for you? Come walk your talk and let us get you drunk.
ReplyGuys, We will now be holding a group in Los Angeles as well. A separate post will be up this week about that.
ReplyI'd like to drive 12 hours to NY to tell Alex Alvarez how much I think the site needs more pictures of Alex Alvarez, but I'm sure that would just put me on the slippery slope towards a restraining order.
ReplyGuys, We will now be holding a group in LA. A post about this will be live this week.
ReplyNYC in the houseeee!! nice to know we have fellow New yorkers representing ..I like Guanabee even more now!! =D
ReplyYou found us out!!!
ReplySo, uh, what exactly is the perceived difference between NY-SF-Austin Latinos and San Antonio-LA Latinos?
Replynot a mind reader, but i bet it has something to do with the fact that the cost of living is MUCH cheaper in SA & LA (area). but if i'm wrong, please feel free to correct me.
ReplyCome to Chicago. We can have all kinds of awko tacos con cilantro y cebolla!
Replyno offense, cause really i like the writing here, but kinda sucks guanabee STILL has no writers out of LA or OC, the area with the largest concentration of latinos in the US, and, arguably, the area with the most interesting demographic and cultural dynamics going on. Speaks volumes. Not to mention how the absence explains the disproportionate posts still arguing the cuban revolution. let it go. anyways, too bad neither alex of the red eyes not cindy will make it out to so cal -- can we take a collection and fly one of you out here? i promise not to wear my che t shirt or flash my mecha card.
ReplyAs a native San Antonian, I'm both honored that you are going to my hometown and saddened that I left that hellhole a long time ago and will thus not be able to visit (I kid I kid, it's not a hell hole just a douche-bag filled baby making factory). My problem is, I move around too much. Will you be in Billings, MT or St. Louis, MO anytime soon? Thought not.
Replyoops. typo. i mean alex "nor" cindy, a visit by either would be badass...
ReplyIf you keep your word about the Che shirt and promise to find some way of procuring a ticket / housing / tacos, I would surely head out there. I'll be the one with the flaming red eyes chanting "CUBA SI, CASTRO NO."
ReplyThis just in: Cindy will be at the LA meeting. And Regarding the Cubans: Aren't you being just a little hypocritical with your total disregard for the east coast Latinos? You want representation, but would deny others theirs? Come, come now. I know you're way more cosmopolitan than that.
ReplySan Antonio is about to get canceled cuz only one person has signed up. And after they bitched at us to open a meeting there, too. Where are all you San Antonio belly achers?
Replyforgive my inarticulate rant. let me clarify: i love my east coast cuban brothers and sisters (ilena ros lehtinen notwithstanding), just a bit tired in cold war era debates. more interested, for instance, in why didn't george staphanapolus ask obama about juanes like univision did? and even better, what about obama even knowing who juanes is? and, finally, to prove my cuban loving bona fides: go pitbull.
Replyso um.. when is this shit going down?
ReplyThey're too busy at the gym, then putting body kits on their rice rockets, then watching Monday night football. (I kid, I kid)
ReplyThe NYC one will be a week from tonight I believe. So anyone who wants to see me get drunk and fall down should hurry and sign up.
ReplyI'll hit y'all up once we get the full SF list. When do you want to have it?
ReplyToo bad i cant be in NYC... She-Alex & me drunk. I bet we can tear shit up. anyway He-Alex... whenever, during the week is better for me.
ReplyWhy in the world would you expect or need Obama to know who Juanes is? Talk about a tired, old Mecha rant.
Replyjust tell the SA peeps you'll hold it at Pancho's
Replyit was a joke. next time i'll attach the appropriate emoticon. ;)
ReplyIf you are ever near DC/Baltimore...
Replyduring the week...sure, whatevs. let the awkwardness begin already.
ReplyOh yeah! Totally THERE unless i get a bad case of lazy pendeja-itis.
ReplyOh man... Cindy and Daniel got me drunk off of the Lamb 'samiches at the L.A. meetup. I hope I gave good feedback and didn't make my freeloading to apparent.
ReplyGive up the chisme!! Did you kids tear up El Rio or WHAT!!
Replyi think i'm still drunk.
