Robbin' Good

Christian Torres, 23, was once a rookie NYC transit officer. He had a bright future, filled with visions of freaking the living shit out of, say, bloggers the one time they attempt to hop a turn style at the Morgan stop. But, alas, his dreams have been torn asunder, all because he decided to take from the rich and give to the poor (himself).

Back in 2007, Torres, with the help of his bank teller girlfriend, stole $16,000 over the course of two robberies at a Sovereign Bank branch in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Torres says he planned the bank robberies in order to afford entry into the police academy. Additionally, Torres laid blame on the ridiculously low wages he’d be receiving. At the time of the robberies, rookie cops in NY brought home a mere $25,100 - which, in NY, is about enough to pay rent and maybe live off ramen, but not enough to afford all the subsequent diarrhea medication one will require. Torres says he wasn’t able to afford to pay his rent and his bills on that kind of salary. And we believe him! Which is why part-time waiting jobs and Craigslist-advertised foot fetish parties exist.

Torres is currently serving ten years for another bank he robbed, this time in Pennsylvania. He could earn an additional 60 years for this NY robberies. We’ll pour out some of our dirty ramen water for you, Chris and reiterate that, unless you’re jumping a turn style, crime is never the answer.
