Jesus Catalan Sought In Murder Of LA Transgender Paulina Ibarra
18 September 2009, 1:29 PM. By Cindy Casares
Investigation into the August 28th murder of Los Angeles transgender woman Paulina Ibarra has lead police to name Jesus Catalan, (AKA: Brian Nanes, AKA Luis Santiago), as a “person of interest.” Catalan, who is thought to be homeless, has gone missing since the murder and is in violation of his parole.
Thanks to the local gay, lesbian and transgender community, cops have their only lead in the case in Catalan who, police stress, is not a suspect. According to an LAPD press conference held last night, though, Catalan has a habit of frequenting transgender prostitutes and was in 24 year-old Ibarra’s East Hollywood apartment on the night she was heard screaming and found stabbed to death on the floor. Catalan is a Hispanic male who is 24 years old, 5′9″, 140 pounds with an unidentified tattoo on his right arm (pictured.) Policed say he should be considered armed and dangerous and that he is wanted as a “parolee-at-large.”Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD.
