s-JOE-WILSON-largeSouth Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson saw it fit to interrupt President Barack Obama’s speech on health care in order to loudly bellow “YOU LIE!,” one finger stabbing the air to drive his point home. All over South Carolina, truck nutz spontaneously burst with pride. Wilson’s outburst, which caused Barack Obama to momentarily pause and Michelle Obama to shake her head from side to side, came as a result of his (unfounded) belief that Obama’s new health care plan would mandate coverage for illegal immigrants. IMMIGRANTS STRAIGHT FROM HELL.

Watch it all go down and tremble at the intellectual prowess exhibited by your elected officials:

Wilson has since apologized for his outburst, saying:

This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.

His apology, of course, still works to maintain his belief that the President was lying about how socialized health care will impact undocumented immigrants. Which is fine, because we were long overdue for something that would take the place of the lyrical genius that was the refrain “¿Por Qué No Te Callas?” You remember when that happened, don’t you? Let’s jog your memory in the form of song:

So: Thank you Joe Wilson! Your measured and articulate response will make for thousands of new, ironic ring tones for disillusioned young people swilling Schlitz.
