lourdes11Madonna - singer, actress, mother, unicorn - is singing the praises of her tween daughter, Lourdes. Lourdes, as we’re sure you’re well aware, is like Madonna only 50% more Cuban and 100% more interesting.

Madonna said she believes her daughter can be “anything she wants to be,” as long as that something is somehow related to the entertainment industry.

Lourdes’ brief appearance in her mother’s “Celebration” video is only the beginning of what we’re will be a long and lucrative career in Being Famous:

The video features your daughter, Lourdes. How did that happen?

She hangs out with the dancers a lot. She’s a dancer, herself. The video is about the celebration of music and dance. There’s an improvisational moment when we’re all in a circle and each dancer does their specialty or a special move that they do well. She wanted to do hers, so she did.

Were you comfortable with her doing the video?

Yeah. She really wanted to do it. It’s just a little moment.

Are you getting an inkling that she wants to follow in your footsteps?

No. I don’t she wants to be a singer. I think she wants to be an actress.

How do you feel about that?

I’m fine with it, as long as she finishes school, and takes it seriously. She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style. She can go in any direction. She’s got a lot of diverse interests right now. We’ll see. I’m not pushing anything. We’ll see what she wants to do.

Except a cardiovascular surgeon school teacher, astronaut, dental hygienist or a veterinarian. Or, ew, a blogger.

We’re actually fine with Lourdes appearing in Madonna’s video - We’re not a parent (we hope), nor do we particularly care whether she decides to encourage or allow her daughter to pursue a career in show business. After all, being the child of a high-profile star might very well limit Lourdes’ career possibilities. We’re not sure the media circus that’s surrounded her since birth would make it easy for her to become, say, an insurance agent in Ashtabula, Ohio. Then again, we’ve known parents in “real life” who have pushed their child to take on acting and modeling jobs, and we always found ourselves questioning whether this was a good idea. It just seemed a little too much like pimping, you know? Here we have someone, the parent, deciding the when, where, who and why of each audition or potential job and the kid kind of crying through it, and the parent pocketing all the money they had little to no role in making. And then there’s all the donkey punching.

What’s your take on kids and show business? Do you think Lourdes will become the next big fashion designing dancing DJ actress perfumer stripper?

  1. If she is following in her mothers footsteps, will she be developing a phoney British accent?

Didn’t they live in London for most of her childhood? I would think she probably has a little hint of a british accent. I’ve never heard her speak.

      • I was referring to the fact that Madonna is from Detroit and is not British in the least=== Phoney British Accent

Maybe Lourdes can team up with Whitney Houston’s daughter and sing a duet.

I suspect we’ll be seeing her bare cuca sooner than we expect.
