ht_shock_060727_ssvSixty-one-year-old Roger Stephens cannot abide crying children who go undisciplined by their parents, especially when he’s trying to do some quality shopping at his local Wal*Mart.

Stephens encountered a mother and her crying two-year-old in the store and, disturbed that he could not shop for Cheetos and Miley Cyrus albums in peace, promptly informed the woman that if she did not discipline her child, he would.

When the mother and baby went off to another aisle, Stephens followed and allegedly slapped the tot four to five times across the face.

Now. Would a kindly old man with this face ever do that to a child?:

Never.

Now, we can’t say we don’t empathize with Stephens on some level. Not that we’d ever slap our womb troll or anyone else’s, but there have been times that we’ve had to go up to a little boy at, say, the MoMA and ask him to “please, you precious and precocious little angel, stop running and shouting (OR I WILL SELL YOUR BONES TO THE BOOGEYMAN AND HE WILL GRIND YOU INTO GLUE)” while his parents glare at us. Glare all you want assholes, but I didn’t pay to hear your little Dakota Pierre singing and sliding around on those stupid little rolly shoes. And we know it’s not the kid’s fault. We only kind of take pleasure in scaring small children, but the reprimand is really meant to cut the parents and make them feel embarrassed in public.

We don’t if this constitutes as a “Latino thing,” but our mom, much to our chagrin / utter delight, is notorious for shushing yelling children in front of their parents. Her line of thinking is that it really does take a village to raise a kid, especially when some of the villagers are off trying on shoes while their children are throwing clothing onto the floor at TJ Maxx.

Do you ever do this? And, be honest, do you kind of love it a little? Or, if you have kids of your own, have you ever had to deal with strangers admonishing them in public? Do share.

if it’s really annoying me I usually say, loud enough for the parent to hear, “Damn someone needs to shut that kid up.” Some times it works and sometimes i get a glare from the parent.
my 4 yearold neice once dedided to get all crazy at the store… once i got her to calm down, i told her next time she did that i was just going to leave her there and that the crazy old man hiding in the store, was going to take her. She dont fuck with me anymore. but she always asks about the crazy old man.

Como carajo is it that there was only one arrest made at that Walmart? Bc had that shit happened to me & my kid, the second one arrested would’ve been me for killing that viejo con cara de Registered Sex Offender/alcoholic. Trust.

I like to give stupid mothers the “look” during misa when the fucking kid won’t sit their ass down and the mom acts so helpless. Get your ass up and take that mocoso outside!!! Jesus is watching you and he DOES NOT approve, MAMONA!! Thinking bad thoughts about mothers while hearing “the word” is not easily done :)

On one occasion an angry old man wanted to hit me because I disciplined my kid. My kid smacked his younger brother w a gift wrapper roll so i took it away and gave him a smack to see how he liked that. The old man only saw the part were I gave my son the smack and rushed me while his old lady has holding him back. My kids were scared and had to leave the store because he said he was calling the cops, he kept saying “ese cabron le pego a su niño con un palo, detengalo”. From that day forward I developed a better technique to discreetly smack my kids without people noticing.
