Hey, Cesar Chavez’s granddaughter, Christine Chavez, just spoke to the gays on Capitol Hill, but she kinda went on and on about other stuff besides gay rights. We suppose you can’t stick a camera in front of a political activist without them plugging their cause. “I’m tired that as a woman, as a Latina, I’m constantly having to defend my right to choose,” she said. Choose what, we’re not 100% sure, but we suppose she meant between having an abortion or not and between being an American and embracing her Mexican roots? “I’m tired that the drop-out rate among our African-American and Latino children continues to grow at an alarming rate. And I’m tired that immigrants who put food on our tables and work in our hotels and factories continue to live in the shadows because we can’t come up with good immigration policy.” Get to the gays, Christina. “But I am especially tired that gay and lesbians in this country aren’t given all the same rights that were given to my husband Oscar and I when we said, ‘I do.’” Cue hot husband, Oscar, who didn’t look that comfortable to be there, but whose image will most definitely be deposited in more than one spank bank this evening.
