Fort Lauderdale police arrested 84-year-old mayoral candidate Edward Portner after attacking and threatening his daughter, herself a mayor, with a gun. We thought this sort of father-daughter bonding was traditionally reserved for Christmas. 

On Tuesday, Portner, who is running for mayor of Tamarac, showed up at the home of his daughter, Broward County Mayor Stacy Ritter. He struggled with her, flashing his gun around. Ritter was able to escape her old, stupid dad’s clutches and run to a neighbor’s house for safety. 

The source of this little tiff? Portner is upset that his daughter has publicly endorsed another candidate for mayor. What is she, insane? You always endorse the candidate most likely to show up at your house with a deadly weapon.
