If Mark Sanford Had A David Letterman Laugh Track During His Confession
6 October 2009, 9:18 AM. By Cindy Casares
Last night David Letterman went ahead and apologized on his show for having sex with consensual adults on his staff back when he was single because America is nothing if not puritanical. And now some people are trying to say it was inappropriate that his audience was laughing and applauding throughout. Well, that’s what happens when something as ridiculous as this comes to pass and adults are shamed for their sexuality like the Salem witch trials. It got so bad this weekend, apparently, that Dave joked he’d rather be South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford right now.
Of course, Dave didn’t apologize to America for having sex, he apologized to his staff and his wife for their having to deal with all this residual bullshit.
One critic thought it would be fun to add Dave’s apology laugh track to Mark Sanford’s famous press conference back in June during which he confessed to America that he was shagging Argentine temptress, Maria Belen Chapur. Here’s the result.
Obviously, there’s no comparison between the two since Sanford was married at the time of his affair and he apparently used state funds to visit his mistress. Not to mention the fact that he was elected on a platform of religious ethics and family values. But, still, we kind of don’t care that he cheats on his wife. Only that he’s rendered so completely incapacitated by his obsession with her.

well this is really very funny
I was cracking up when Letterman also did a deadpan apology to the former governor of Alaska. Hilarious!
