Sheriff Joe Arpaio Faces Off Against Al Sharpton (Again) Over Crime Sweep Planned For Today

Despite having very recently had his authority to enforce federal immigration law on his own revoked, Maricopa County Sherriff Joe Arpaio went ahead and organized a crime sweep for today.
Al Sharpton came down from the castle made entirely of hair that he has in the clouds over Tahiti in order to both denounce the sweep and call Arpaio a liar, liar:
He may be bluffing to try to play to his crowd that he’s not backing down and it’s really going to be nothing. It may be that he wants to be Bull Connor and defy the federal government. We’ll see.”
I think the federal government should watch very carefully to see if he (Arpaio) crosses the line and whether he respects the law of the land that he claims he’s trying to enforce. I hope he’s just posturing and bluffing.
Arpaio’s sweeps are both notorious and expensive, costing taxpayers as much as $40,000 per sweep. The sheriff was given the choice of either giving up on these sweeps, or of agreeing to participate in a government-sanctioned plan to wrangle in illegal immigrants using federally trained officers. His choice? To just keep on doing whatever the hell he wants. Or, as Sharpton pointed out, to at least bluff about it.

Why doesn’t Obama grow a pair and stop Arapaio from harassing and jailing American citizens who happen to have brown skin and/or Spanish surnames? I’m tired of him. They give him the Nobel Peace Prize but he’s too afraid to step and protect the civil rights of brown Americans in Arizona. Pathetic.
