Study Suggests Spiritual Women Have More Sex Than Drunk Women

A new study conducted by the University of Kentucky suggests that women who are spiritual (as opposed to religious) have more sex with more partners. And with less condoms. Innnneresting.

Using a Spiritual Transcendence Scale (aka what Father O’Shaunessy hangs his rosary on?), researchers measured participants’ “connectedness, universality, and prayer fulfillment.” The survey included 353 undergraduate students, most of whom were female, who were given a questionnaire that asked about their alcohol use, how impulsive they were, how religious they are, how spiritual they are and their usual sexual practices. So: Heavy, too lazy, not very, even less and … dogs. Easy.

Some of the queries into spirituality sounded quite a lot like the class retreats we were forced to take during high school:

The statements on spirituality, which were ranked by level of agreement, included “In the quiet of my prayers and/or meditations, I find a sense of wholeness,” and “Although individual people may be difficult, I feel an emotional bond with all of humanity.”

Interestingly, the study found that men who more spiritual had less sex. The researchers think it is because the world sees these men as wusses with the sexual prowess of this thing:

The researchers figure men might not view spirituality as sexual because they biologically don’t think of sex as a gateway to emotional intimacy.

Researchers ventured to guess that women who were spiritual were more open-minded and thus into kinky shit and not using condoms except to make funny balloons to throw at your partner. 

Which bring us to this: What do you suppose this means for the stereotype of Latinos? We’re seen as being religious and spiritual, no? And yet Latino men are seen as virile and sexual. Maybe it’s just all a little different when the object of your worship is your own member.
