picture-130Freeze! Don’t even thinking of shoving that taco in your mouth. The FDA has issued a massive recall of hundreds of tortilla products - including shells, tostadas, and chips - because these may contain “Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies tolworthi Cry9C protein.” This is of concern because the genetic material needed for the Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies tolworthi Cry9C protein (which looks like this under a microscope) to grow in corn is a type of pesticide not allowed in food meant for human consumption.

Here’s a list of some of the products being recalled - you can find the entire, exhaustive list here. We realize it might already be too late for some of you. Try not to panic. There is no death more honorable than death by 10805 Yellow Round Chip 3/2 # Chips Wal*Mart:

Nooo! Not Fiesta! Well, at least there’s no HEB-made items on the list. Thank goodness for their in-house bakery-made tortillas… which are delicious.

oh snap! I saw calitexican tweet this earlier and i almost shit my pants.. I’ve been eating tortillas almost everyday for the past week. but now that’ve read this I am ok.my momma dont buy those type/brands of tortillas. I will not be dying by way of a tortilla!!

    • for reals, i nearly fainted when i read that cause i eat them things like at least 6 days a week. but then i read the list and i was like, phew. my roommate and i will not be dying of yellow corn. death by white corn on the other hand, if it the same should happen to WC, will be imminent. deader on arrival than death by stereo. thank goodness we have another roommate that can tell the world we love them.
