TRIGGERSTREET.COM PARTYIf you’ve been clamoring for more Wilmer Valderramma lately, well. 1) We’re not friends and 2) you’re pretty lucky! Not only is Wilmer starring in a Latinofied adaptation of Sense and Sensibility called From Prada to Nada, he’s also set to star in a sitcom inspired by Cesar Millan’s The Dog Whisperer series.

The new show will air on Fox and will follow the life and times of a character inspired by Millan who works as a dog trainer, played by Valderrama. The series will be directed and executive produced by Emily Kapnek, who has previously worked with Valderrama on the ill-fated The Emancipation of Ernesto, which was not picked up after its initial pilot. We guess we’ll see whether second time’s the charm for a collaboration between these two.

We really do wonder how this show will play out. If it makes it on air, it’ll be one of the very few mainstream sitcoms in the US to feature a Latino character as its star. Will they mention that he was an illegal immigrant? Will they follow his path to legal residency and U.S. citizenship? Will his family also be portrayed at Latino, like they are in real life? Will every joke on the show have to relate to his ethnicity or legal status? And where there no young, hot Mexican actors available to do this role? And did anyone really want a sitcom based on a reality series?

We’ll definitely be sure to follow this when it hits the air. Despite Wilder. See? That’s just how much we love you.

  1. Why bother with a sitcom based on this show? The Dog Whisperer is already pretty funny without the detriment of a laugh-track. I always crack up toward the end whenever Cesar shakes his head in frustration and tells some mousy dog owner that they need to be more assertive and become the pack leader, as if they couldn’t figure it out on their own.

The hook will be that he gets bit by a different dog every week.

  3. why is wilmer being groomed as the next edward james olmos? we’ll be seeing him in everything that has a brown dude in it until i’m older and greyer than i already am. ugh.
