At first glance, this video of an obese man who goes by the name of Fat Man, taking off his shirt and singing about how he has diabetes and he's going to die because the junk food tastes "real good," is funny. And also, on second glance, it's still funny. But if we take our cynical mask off for a moment, we see it addresses a deeper issue. One that touches millions of obese Americans who can't get off the junk. And by junk we mean food.
This is not Fat Man's first such video. He has dozens on YouTube. And one of them, in which he went off on a rant against his 13 year-old YouTube haters was turned into a dance remix that swept the internet.
Fat Man doesn't stop at food, either. He's also working hard to become an alcoholic. Something that can kill you even if you don't have diabetes. This video, entitled, "Becoming alchoholic fat man drinks a bud and eats pizza," starts to get really dark as Fat Man says, "Cheers. Here's to giving up, folks."
Fat Man's fans think he's hilarious, and they cheer him on by posting comments like, "(Don't) Show Us Your Tits!" (Something he seems to do in every video for shock value.) But it's clear that Fat Man is not faking his obesity and this stuff will kill him. Is it okay to watch a guy slowly commit suicide for entertainment? Why does Fat Man hate himself? Can we get him on Oprah? We're sure going to try. We got a hold of his phone number, or a phone number he claimed was his in one of his videos and we left him a message. The voice on the recording sounded like him and he said his name is Chris. We also found this website which claimes that he's no longer posting videos because he's on a diet. We'll let you know if he gets back to us.
