Sofia Vergara, it turns out, might be having a feud with Modern Family co-star Julie Bowen if you consider the fact that Julie called Sofia "Cholo Barbie" last night on Chelsea Lately a bad sign. Which we kinda do.
Good thing we're living in a post-racial society or we'd say that Julie is kinda racist with all that dishwashing talk. Her anger--or insecurity--was well earned after Sofia completely dissed her during her appearance on Chelsesa Lately some weeks ago by failing to remember Bowen's name despite the fact that the two work together day in and day out.
Seriously, though, Sofia should be on television like everyday. She's a yuck a minute.

Replyactually, the term cholo/a goes back a few hundred years and has a very different meaning in south america: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholo. mostly, it's been used pejoratively to insult and belittle people of indigenous heritage, although in recent times there's been a move by those with mixed heritage towards taking ownership of the term and giving it a more positive meaning.
ReplyI can't believe all of the whining about Julie Bowen. Julie seems a hell of a lot cooler than Sofia. Julie is the type of girl that you could hang out with and have a beer some laughs. Sofia would sit there and look bored for a minute, then TELL you to go get her another drink. Sofia has big tits and a nice ass, so nobody on this thread cares that she treats her own co-workers like the hired help. If you're not offended that somebody that you worked with day in and day out couldn't remember your name, you're an idiot doormat that deserves zero respect. ReplyI read these comments before viewing the clips and from what everyone said I was expecting totally different interviews. I don't think these two women are in any sort of fight and they seem to like one another fine. You would never poke gentle fun of someone you hated the way Julie did Sofia. If Julie Bowen was really mad about Sofia calling her the wrong last name she would have stipulated to the Chelsea Lately staff that it not be brought up. Both women are funny and both interviews were great. Stop trying to stir up non-existent drama!

ReplyNope, Julie went over-the-top racist. Her "repartee" with the Chuy guy was just foul. So much so that when I then watched the Sofia interview here I cheered out loud when Chelsea misspoke the word "Wednesday" at the end—followed by Sofia's well-timed come-back. Say what you will about SV, she's got great comic timing.
