Guanabee Exclusive: Tokio Hotel Refuses To Share Dressing Room With Black Performers At Los Premios Telehit

German band Tokio Hotel have been causing a stir backstage at Los Premios Telehit in Mexico by making absurd - and racist - demands. Every performer or group at the awards show was made to share a dressing room with another act. Tokio Hotel’s management, however, requested that the group not share a space with any black performers.
Later, when the band was riding an elevator to their room, they stepped out, before reaching their floor, as soon as black Mexican performer Kalimba entered the lift.
Our source at the awards show, Marcelo, further details the band’s diva behavior:
This all sounded way too ridiculous for me to believe at the beginning, but it was confirmed by two separate and credible sources from Telehit’s production team. They also made everybody from the Telehit staff leave during their soundcheck. This place is massive, and there was like 15 bands, so you can imagine how many people where roaming around and doing their own thing. They seriously made everybody leave with the exception of like 4 techs, whose cellphones were taken away by Telehit management.
Their big-ass german security guards blocked everything and they didn’t let us leave until the band was completely finished. It was fucking ridiculous. All the other big bands (Café Tacvba, Calle 13, Enrique Iglesias, Paulina Rubio, etc.) where all hanging out and nobody was tripping about nothing. Their security pretty much came in and swept everybody into the nearest closet or dressing and didn’t let anybody leave - period.
The band went on to win that night’s award for “Best International Rock Band,” even thanking their Mexican fans in Spanish. Take a look:
We guess that “gracias” doesn’t apply to black fans.
This is not, apparently, the first time singer Bill Kaulitz and his band committed racist acts, as “Are Tokio Hotel Racist?” and “Is Bill Kaulitz A Racist?” are both questions that have been posed in internet forums. And then there are, of course, fans who stand by the band regardless of stories such as this.

Because we all now people who are drawn to the cultural trappings of rap music cannot possibly be racist.

I never said nor suggested that. You have serious reading comprehension problems. It’s sad that you view homosexuality as something bad or embarrassing and are quick to use the word “fag” in a derogatory manner. It says a lot about you. If a Mexican committed a crime against me, I would never call the person a “spic” or “dirty Mexican” because I know that would offend a large segment of the Hispanic community (and I respect people from Mexico). If an African-American person did something that I found morally reprehensible, I would never use the “n” word to describe the person because, again, it would offend a lot of good people (and I have nothing but positive feelings about African Americans).
So, yes, if the allegations are true, then it’s very clear that Bill’s actions are very racist. And we should voice our objection to it. You and I agree on that, I’m sure. But there’s no need to use language that’s offensive to an entire group of people. It’s demeaning and does more harm than good.
Take everything you read with a grain of salt. As any fan of Tokio Hotel who reads this will know that what this article claims is completely false. Tokio Hotel is perhaps one of the gracious and most polite entertainers. The comments and reports can easily been given by Tokio Hotel haters. I seriously do not believe that they would be racist at all since they themselves know how it feels like to be marginalized. Also, they are good friends with Jay Z and have had dinner and hung out with him before. Therefore, it is really hard for me to believe that they are racist.
The media has a way of twisting and manipulating non existent sources….Compared to all the other reports on Tokio Hotel, this one takes the opposite view and stands alone.
Also manipulative? Posting more than one comment under an anonymous login to make it seem like more than one person has your opinion. I trust our source. You can choose to believe or not believe what you read, but I resent your implication that we make up sources, especially since I named the source and didn’t hide his identity as “anonymous.”

Well. I was there with Marcelo. I guess since they were in Mexico they felt they could get away with it but it’s completely true. They ARE from Magdeburg in EAST germany. One of the last true holdouts of out-right racism in the western world. But believe what you like, I saw the kids in person. They dont like black people, period. Deal with it fans.
