It's been too long since we had a pregnant man around here, so thank God we've been sent Scott Moore who hails from California and is hella knocked up. Scott was born a woman named Jessica and decided he wanted to live as a man, but also wanted to bear a child with his husband, Thomas, to whom he is legally married because he still has a female birth certificate. Thomas has two sons from a previous relationship with a woman who died. Thomas was also born a woman and the kids, Gregg, 12, and Logan, 10 live with him and Scott. Got all that?
Scott is the second American man to come out as pregnant and possibly the second to deliver, with Thomas Beatie of Oregon being the first. Spaniard Ruben Noe Coronado, was unable to carry his twins to term. Now on to the pictures of a very pregnant Scott who is due in only a month's time.

Replythey don't even look like men. In reality they are just lesbians who cut off their breasts. Men cannot and do not wish to be impregnated there is simply nothing more femine than to bare a child. They are beyond disgusting and give true transsexuals a bad name. It should be a crime, it certainly is against nature.

ReplyI can count many many more than two men who've given birth that I know. This is hardly new news to anyone in the community. Best of luck to the happy dads-to-be, but this is not novel. And since when is a blended family complicated? Widows and widowers with children have been remarrying since pretty much forever. Plenty of straight and cis people get together with partners who have children from a previous marriage. That's not terribly difficult to describe or understand. Neither is wanting to have a child with your partner.
ReplyIf a "man" that has a uterus, fallopian tubes, and eggs, in addition to the ability to ovulate, it is not a man, it is a woman. So, yet again, the media publishes a story thinking it is astonishingly out of the ordinary when in fact there's very little that is special about it if anything at all.

ReplyWow. I am pretty astonished by the ignorance of this group. This man is having a child. The most selfless and difficult thing to do EVER. Does it matter to his children that he was born female? Obviously not. They have two loving fathers, which is a lot more than some children have. He see's himself as a man and lives his life as a man. There is a difference between the physical sex characteristics one is born with and the gender in which they identify. Genitals do NOT determine what gender a person is.

ReplyFirst, she is not a man. Just because you want to be a man doesn't make you a man, no matter how you mutilate your body. Men can not get pregnant. Second, I too worry about the health of the baby because what is this woman taking so that she still has facial hair 8 months into her pregnancy?

ReplyScott Moore is not the second transman to have a baby. Discovery Channel recently aired "Transgendered and Pregnant" about Cai and Emily. Emily was born a man and transitioned to become a woman. Cai was born a woman, but transitioned to become a man. Neither one of them had gotten around to having "bottom" surgery performed and low and behold, Emily got Cai pregnant. Cai was unaware of "his" pregnancy though and continued to take testosterone. Their doctor was very relieved to find out that they were expecting a boy, otherwise, the testosterone would have caused ambigious/intersexed genitals. I put up a post earlier, but it got removed. I'm a lesbian and my partner is a psychiatrist. Please don't judge the "community" by the trans crowd and I'll leave it at that. Unfortunately, normal, boring gays and lesbians will be negatively judged because of people like this (just like we're already judged by the fringe freaks in our community).

If you believe that physical characteristics and reproductive organs are not indications of a person's sex, then you need to go back to school and take a basic biology course. This whole scenario is so wrong and unnatural. I can somewhat understand when a person desires to change their sex entirely, but to undergo a couple of physical transformations to become someone of the opposite sex and yet keep female reproductive organs in place just does not make sense. You either give up all your female rights (the most important one - the right to bear children) or accept the fact that you were born as a female and live that way. The stuff that goes on nowadays is just absurd, men turning into women, women turning into men. Nature will never recognise this nonsense and I can't comprehend the idea that there are people who regard this as something normal. If nature intended all its creatures to be gay or for males to be able to undergo pregnancy and birth, then it would be natural. But none of these phenomenons take place in the natural world and therefore, they can never be considered as something natural and right. How would we even keep species alive (let alone evolve), if many of us were homosexual? We wouldn't have the privilege of producing offspring and would eventually become extinct. I feel bad for these children. They are left without a choice. They are brought into this world without giving consent to the notion that they are predisposed to criticism and mockery. That must be an awful way to begin life. I think these kids should not be judged by society because they are not at fault for the ludicrous decisions their "parents" made, but my compassion won't put an end to this type of torture anytime soon. This situation is too abnormal for society to ignore.

The first thing the average joe thinks is, what? a man is pregnant? thats impossible! After all look at all the comments being left with people arguing back and forth about this persons gender and anatomy. Would it be offensive to say "Transgender person gets pregnant" ?

ReplyI agree with your comments, and most transmen don't broadcast it. They go about their business about becoming a "self-made" man. These two would have been better off just letting the neighbors think they were a couple of gay guys with kids. I feel bad for their kids. When you have kids, there are certain responsibilities/obligations that come with it and embarrassing them isn't one of them. These little guys are going to be beaten up and harassed at school thanks to their "parents". These kids didn't ask to be the poster children for their "fathers" cause. Wrong, wrong, wrong...

ReplyNewsflash, homosexuality wasn't mentioned much in the Bible because it was a given that men and women were the "norm". Furthermore, it was/is taboo in almost all cultures and religions, long before Christianity came along. As far as what's mentioned in the Bible, Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed for practicing ritual homosexuality, not hospitality. The hospitality idea is ridiculous. Where do you think the word "Sodomy" came from? You probably won't bother to check these out, but here are some verses that specifically deal with homosexual behavior: Genesis 19:1-25; Judges 19:22-30; Leviticus 18:22; and Leviticus 20:13 and 5, Romans 1:24-28; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:8-11; 2 Peter 2:6-10; and Jude 7. Furthermore, Paul was very specific about it and states "and such were some of you", meaning that they were no longer "practicing" homosexual acts. Also, although Jesus never specifically mentioned homosexuality, he did state this in Matthew 19:4-5. "Haven't you read, that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So for anyone to think differently would be a big "Duh". Sorry, you are so upset and angry, but there is no "Plan B".

Replyhow do you define a man? Is it by your penis? Is it by your genes? Genetics is a spectrum not a dicotomy. I'm sorry to inform you but a man without a penis, isn't less of a man because of it. Just because this doesn't fit into your dicotomy doesn't make it fake. I've read articles saying that it took them 4 months to find a doctor who would see them. It's so sad to me that pro lifers fight against abortions but this family wants to keep their baby and a doctor won't help them have a safe pregnancy. I think bringing light to that fact is important no matter what the cost. Doctors should be more open minded. Thomas Beatie went through the same problems with his pregnancy. Shame on the Doctors for being so closed minded.

A male cannot reproduce sexually without access to at least one ovum from a female, but some organisms can reproduce asexually". Hmmm...sounds pretty straight forward to me. Genetics is definitely a dicotomy. Genetics set in the stone the blueprint for everyone. We can try alter ourselves on the exterior, and can sometimes do a pretty good job of it, but ultimately, you are what your genetics dictate. My guess is that there are far more doctors out there who are NOT pro-life than are, so I'm not sure why they had such a hard time finding one. There are plenty of gay and lesbian OB/GYN docs around. This "couple" planned a pregnancy, so they should have taken the necessary steps to get all of their ducks in a row (like finding an OB/GYN, etc.) BEFORE getting pregnant. Especially in a case like this, when you have been taking testosterone to alter your appearance. I don't get your reference to pro-lifers and a safe pregnancy. Having a safe pregnancy is this couple's responsibility, no one else's. ???
Replyhomosexuality does occur in nature. and how does the argument that things are only natural if they occur in all members of a species hold any water? if there were no variation life on earth would not have gotten very far, would it? also, while i don't know this guy's individual story, i do know that it is much more complicated and expensive to transition from female to male than from male to female. There really aren't any satisfactory ways to construct male genitalia, and many female to male patients just opt for hormones and chest reconstruction. i agree that that doesn't mean he had to decide to play the female role of giving birth, but most people want to somehow reproduce, and why waste what he has if that's what he wants?
ReplyI may self say congrats to these MEN just because they were born female and chose to live there lives as men does not mean they are any less men. And yes i agree that man was not born with the equipment to have babys but i also know that some women were not born with this either. As long as the baby is healthy and happy who is to say it is wrong. They are blessed with a gift and there is no greater gift then a child. So weather it is male female or a trans gender person having it you people should just be happy for the parents to be. I mean come on it is 2010 and we are still arguing over homosexuality you people take us back hundreds of yrs. CONGRATS GUYS I TRULY HOPE YOU HAVE A HAPPY HEALTHY BABY.
ReplyBecause orientation (or sexual preference) does NOT dictate identity OR gender. Ask any gay man, any woman, any transsexual woman, any transsexual man and in fact anybody but the common layman, and they will tell you the same thing- that a gay man never has been and never will be the same thing as a woman. I'm a transgendered man, but a man first and foremost, and the fact that I like other men doesn't change that.

Not everyone identifies so perfectly into the box of male or female as you obviously do, and if it weren't for people being openminded about gender variation in the first place, then you wouldn't enjoy the rights you have today, so either keep your ugly thoughts about these "fools who don't fit into the box" to yourself, or open your mind. If you've ever used the argument "It's my body anyway, I can do what I want with it" in your transition, then you can't speak to an experience like this with such criticism. If he wants to use the body he was given to do with what he wills, and he's not hurting anyone, then so be it. It seems obvious to me that you feel threatened by this sort of person- all the criticism of him feels like it's crashing on you, and you want to separate yourself with comments like "well, I'm a man, because at least I'm not going around getting pregnant." But for each person in this room, I could come up with a reason that they were not a man, even the men with penises. The point is, it's not for us to judge. If he feels more male than female, then he is- even if he still has a vagina. Accept that in yourself, without feeling like you have to down people and shut them out of the realm of acceptable human beings. If you perpetuate this way of thinking, expect it to come around and kick you in the ass without escaping it in your lifetime.
