Puerto Rican medical workers taking part in a humanitarian mission to Haiti, called, "Salvemos A Haiti," are in an awkward position today after photos featuring them in compromising poses while working on Haitian earthquake victims were spotted on Facebook. Various photos of the doctors and nurses smiling and mugging for the camera while operating on Haitians and while standing next to coffins, as well as nude photos of Haitian patients and pictures of medical workers brandishing firearms belonging to Dominican soldiers, were posted on a personal Facebook page. Those photos were spotted by a woman who, in turn, posted them on her blog. The relief workers, it turns out, were sent to Haiti by the Puerto Rican Senate, who is left scrambling for an explanation.

"You can't ever take pictures of patients if you don't have a written agreement and much less publish photos of patients half-nude," Medical Board President Eduardo Ibarra told CNN. "This is a clear violation of the Hippocratic oath we take as medics. We're going to take all the measures possible to correct this."

Leave it to the Puerto Ricans to do something like this! Tenian que ser los Puerto Riquenos!!
Replyyou are very ignorant, pendejo, and rude...while the actions of these puerto ricans are horrendous you should not judge us all based on this. What these Drs did cannot go unpunished. Severe sanctions should be implemented
Replyshut up ho. they did what they had to did. so shut your mouth.
ReplyThere's no need to disrespect each other. Just because a few imbeciles did something uncalled for does not take away the big commitment that the Puerto Rican people have made in raising money and supplies for Haiti.
ReplyIt is very embarrasing and shameful, especially when the Puerto Rican people responded to this trajedy with thier hearts. There is no excuse for the behavior of these people as far as I'm concerned. I have been praying and crying for the people of Haiti - I am proud of all the Puerto Rican's who care and helped out Haiti - but not these ignorant fools - they should have stayed home! They just tarnished us as a whole - as we can all see by your "intelligent" comment.
ReplyI agree there is no need for disrespecting each other the actions of some people does not characterize the rest. That would be no better than the comment the preacher made that this was an act of God for punishing the Haitians for being Satan worshipers. Not all Haitians were but they all are going through this horrible event. My heart goes out to all the people in Haiti, and yes I believe that the Medical Staff from PR should have there licenses revoked.
ReplyWhat's the big deal about the Puertorican doctors drinking in Haiti??? We are so into criticizing that we fail to see their sacrafice, they operated 100 people in 24 hours and with a flashlight hello????????
ReplyI'm a Puerto Rican and if you don't like Puerto Ricans step. Like was said before you can not judge all by one and if you do you are a bigger fool for your way of thinking. I didn't read to many writing the words, I plan to leave to go help the people of Haiti on this site. These people are doing work over there that you can not even start to imagine if you had a mind.
Replyit is a big deal that is not what they went there for, they have a place to call home, if they wanted to drink and party on they should have waited to go home. there is a time and place for everything, that was just not the time. in regards to the other picture of them posing smiling next to naked people, holding a saw smiling like they can't wait to amputate someones' hand or etc. thats' a disgrace, they are animals and some animals should be taken out of there misery, they don't deserve to be in the medical field, somewhere along the line they lost touch with humanity....
ReplyI was there in Haiti and spent some time at the LNSP with some Puerto Rican doctors and nurses during Feb. The folks that were there (not the ones in these pictures) gave up months of their lives and did an admirable job in treating Haitians. They were very compassionate and don't deserve to be judged by the photos. Delivering babies, fixing amputations, and picking up specimens. It's easy to sit at home and judge without seeing the actual work that they did.
