George Lopez, who is now officially Tío Tomás, has signed on to voice Speedy Gonzales in a New Line Cinema CGI/live action piece of mierda. This is going to be so bad that we are going to have to actually murder him.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, who basically reprinted the press release, the same guys who wrote Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and the guy who is producing the Karate Kid remake with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, are behind this. So, really, how could it be any worse? Oh, but they got a Latina spokesperson to assure us that this movie has the "George Lopez Latino Seal of Approval." So, basically Speedy's grandmother will physically abuse him and get drunk and pass out at his birthday party. Let's tally up the facts:

So, basically Speedy's grandmother will physically abuse him and get drunk and pass out at his birthday party. Let's tally up the facts:
- Speedy Gonzales: You may as well take a shit on the Mexican Flag portraying this character in any way. We don't care how careful you think you are. It's like white people trying to get away with saying the N word. Peor if you have George Lopez as your cultural sensitivity guide.
- George Lopez: Hasn't been funny since...ever.
- CGI/Live Action Hybrid: Looney Toons are classic, old school animation and you're just going to turn it into some over-produced schlock. Case in point:
- Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties.
- Anyone who would remake The Karate Kid has already decided that creativity and innovation are unnecessary elements of filmmaking.

OK, who is going to voice the character of "Slow Poke" Speedys cousin? G'Lo, you are supposed to be the spokesperson for Mexicans? This is the equivilant of an African American character in a movie answering every Caucasion with the phrase, "yessir Masser"
ReplyWhatever. I used to love Speedy Gonzales and Slowpoke Rodriguez. About freakin' time they made a movie of this.

ReplyWhat is wrong with George Lopez? He probably has enough power at this point to produce small independent movies that have good scripts. But no, he wants to be Speedy Gonzalez. What an idiot. He's an embarrassment.
ReplyWhoa, the story in Hollywood Reporter also says that an adaptation of "Walter the Farting Dog" is coming soon to the big screen. That's so cool.
