"I am richer than all the gringos."

Mexican telecommunications magnate, Carlos Slim-Helu, has been named by Forbes magazine as the richest man in the world, again. Slim snatched the title from Bill Gates in 2007 and this year, he beat out his other closest competition, Warren Buffet, with the cunning use of phone monopolies. If this were a category, we'd actually watch the Winter Olympics.
Slim's fortune has swelled to an estimated $53.5 billion, up $18.5 billion in 12 months. Shares of America Movil, of which Slim owns a $23 billion stake, were up 35% in a year.
We're relieved to hear that Slim is doing okay in this economy. Congratulations to all our competitors. You're all winners in our book.
