With the news that Pyongyang, North Korea's official website has declared their glorious leader Kim Jong-Il, in his signature track suits, a global, fashion icon, we had to ask, could El Jefe Maximo, Fidel Castro, be on the outs as THE stylish dictator track suit wearer? Is his hip hop style too gauche for the runways of Paris? It is if communist party newspaper Rodong Sinmun is to be believed:
But while Jong-Il's suits consist of a zipped-up tunic and matching khaki or bluish-grey trousers, Fidel opts for the more flashy primary colors of his country's flag--red white and blue--in a synthetic Addidas fabric. An outdated hip hop throwback to the aughts if we ever saw one. Still, Jong-Il's cold weather uniform--a grey, puffy anorak with fur hat and bizanging shades--is pretty hip hop itself.
Which dictator do you guys think is more stylish?

The reason is that the august image of the Great General, who is always wearing the modest suit while working, leaves a deep impression on people's mind in the world.

I have to give the edge to el comandante. (Christ, I really need to get a life.)
Replyi'm actually leaning towards KJI. I like the demureness. HA.
ReplyWhatever. You know if Chairman Mao were still alive he'd win this contest hands down. I could just see it now. He'd be sporting the red People's Republic of China national basketball team Nike warm up suit, making granny shots from the free throw line.
Replythis is a hard one... KJI is rockin it hardcore in that last picture, look at the swagger. But I've always imagined Castro being a part of an underground breakdancing club. He wears the shit out of those tracksuits.
ReplyThey need to work on their hair. Hair and shoes is what makes the outfit.
