sotonew University of Arizona Associate Professor of Gender and Women's Studies Sandra Soto used the Social and Behavioral Sciences commencement to talk about Latinos being marginalized by recent legislation in her state and was promptly booed. We can't say we are surprised she was booed, only that they let her speak at the podium and even defended her to the cretins that are the U of A graduates and their families.

Watch Sandra Soto Get Booed At Graduation For Criticizing Arizona SB 1070 And HB 2281.

Detractors in the audience complained via Twitter about Soto hijacking the event for political purposes, but isn't an institution of learning the perfect place to be challenged? Not to mention a graduation in the school of Social & Behavioral Sciences!!! (Underline!) But as one commenter on YouTube who purports to be an ASU Sun Devil said:
Only a pure asshole would turn a graduation speech into a political soap box grandstanding event! This is why we (ASU Sun Devils)? eat Wildcat for diner! BBQ the Fat ass because like I said before... Only a pure asshole would turn a graduation speech into a political speech!
Arizona: These are the educated ones, America.

Amazing that the most eloquent protest against her speech was CUT YOUR HAIR! Yeah, so much for civil discourse, would a blanquito professor have been booed so loudly, prolly not! It's too bad that graduates from a college that houses a great Mexican American Studies program can be so ignorant about the social dynamics of the city and state where they chose to study!!! Arriba los Wildcats y fuera los sundevils!

I find it humerous that so many of you are offended by the fact that many in the crowd sought to stop Ms. Soto from being heard, when Ms. Soto herself spoke of encouraging the students to prevent our State Superindentent of Schools, Tom Horne, from meeting with the TUSD officials to speak. A little hypocritical don't you think? Typical though of the Elites. I wonder if Ms. Soto has actually ever PRODUCED anything other than victimization. Please Ms. Soto, leave Arizona. Us ignorant "cretins" as this article calls us, the ones who actually work, create jobs, sign paychecks, etc., are damn tired of paying for you and for the illegals that you defend.

I wonder if that school ever taught American History. President Eisenhower's "Operation Wetback" in the 1950's was most likely left out, only Spanish is taught in American schools now! Such a shame there might not be real Americans left in the future.

I assure you that as a graduate of the UA. American history is taught at this school. As part of higher education, we were also taught to think critically about history and those who wrote the history books. History isn't just about what happened, but how it is presented. Just because you blindly and faithfully believe what you are taught doesn't make you more of an American. In fact the beauty of the US is that we have the choice to question history and the government. I don't criticize that the students present did not agree with what she said, it IS their prerogative, their choice. What I question is their lack of social discourse. Mass media has trained society well in creating a polarized society, there's no longer room for discussion. Any kind of issue is always broken into US vs THEM.

The mexican mantra All of the laws should be enforced equally, regardless of race, religion, and/or national origin. That is with the exception of mexicans, and they should be above the law and exempt from the law. And the only purpose that a tonto gringo serves is to pay taxes to support the superior and noble mexican. Anyone who disagrees with this philosophy is Xenophobic and a Racist. Soto stared down a room full of racists? And who paid for Sotos the anchor baby's education? Racists? Americans are not racist if they do whatever Mexicans and other Latinos want. No questions asked. Latinos (90% of them) make me sick. Sandra Soto is just another Latina Professor with her Mexican head of up ass! All that hair in that big cavity must give her a thrill especially when she shakes her big Mexican head! Can't fix Mexico so she downs Americans who follow rule of law. Come in legal Latinos or face our wrath! By the way I'm part Hispanic.

The real reason that illegal immigration exists in the United States of America is that the government and corporations want it. It is part of the strategy to ODivide and ConquerO and stay in power. In the 60s, the average American started taking a good, hard look at what our government and corporations were doing. Americans finally started to wake up from our long slumber, and when we did, we were appalled at what we saw. We started to unite; it did not mater if one was white, brown, black, red, or yellow, we were all Americans. We had a common enemy, the corrupt: entrenched bureaucrats, professional politicians, and corporations. They saw the writing on the wall, the days of Obusiness as usualO were numbered. To combat this new awakening in the American public, the strategy bureaucrats, politicians, and corporations adopted was a three-pronged attack: mass immigration, legal and illegal; introducing the concept of multiculturalism; and creating the mechanism to fund legal challenges to any attempt by the American people regain control. Up until the mid 60s, the United States of America had a conservative immigration policy that allowed approximately 100,000 to 200,000 foreign nationals a year into the U.S. Then it was changed. Over a million foreign nationals a year were allowed to enter the U.S. legally and illegally. There are now approximately 11 million foreign nationals illegally in the U.S. This demonstrates that illegal immigration is condoned, and is even rewarded by the government through social programs and amnesty. The new immigrants were encouraged to settle in separate communities, and retain their culture and language, discouraging assimilation into American culture and any attempts to define themselves as simply OAmericanO. The birth of multiculturalism was the next part of the attack on American solidarity. Ethnic studies was introduced on campuses and schools around the country, and later became a mandatory class. Ethnic studies evolved into ethnic clubs, and later departments based on race, e.g. Black studies, Latino studies, etc. Ethnic studies gave birth to a quasi-nationalism based on race. The hyphenated American was born. This created further conflict and division among the American people. The final prong of this attack was the use of foundations, e.g., the Ford Foundation, etc. to funnel money from corporations to special interest groups, e.g., MEChA, La Raza, and their variants. These in turn fund special interest law firms, e.g., MALDEF, to challenge any attempt by the American citizen to regain control of our country. The American citizens have repeatedly: introduced legislation, e.g. prop 187, etc, voted on it, and had it overwhelmingly approved by the voters, only to have these special interest law firms challenge the legislation, tie it up in the courts, then have it struck down by a judge with a political agenda. The final insult happened when the elected officials failed to appeal that lower court decision and fight to have the will of the people protected, as they are required by law to do.

Since when are Gender and WomenOs Studies legitimate course of study in a university. It is pathetic that this anchor baby used a commencement speech to denounce American Laws and gave her a platform for grievance mongering. I am proud of the Students that booed her. People are getting sick and tired of foreigners telling us how we should allow criminals and illegal aliens into our country.

These are the educated ones, BY HER, even. THANK GOD there are still people who don't allow themselves to be indoctrinated. They answer what they got to answer on the tests, and then they MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS. This woman is a very well TRAINED IDIOT, using the commencement ceremony, which belongs TO THE STUDENTS, to put forth her socialist, stupid, ANTI American agenda. Insane woman, TOTALLY obvious by the stupid hair she wore to the place...Cut here hair, alright; and cut HER out of a place where she can influence the weaker minds...although I congratulate those students: they are NOT weak at all -- REAL AMERICANS telling an idiot that her stupid comments are NOT welcome...THAT is freedom of speech!!!

E Pluribus Unum. Right? My father is Greek and my mother is Belgian French and I was born in Rwanda and yes I am a white caucasian. So what? I am tired of the underlying ant-white racism that getting really endemic. No one in this country is more special tha anybody else. I came to thsi country legally and became a very proud American. And for the life of me if I had Hispanic ethicity in me I woudl be appalled at how i am being used by politician and othr so-called Latino leaders who are pushing something very strange about being Latino/Hispanic. sorry but being Latino is NOT more or less special than any other ethnicity. I am also tired with this notion that, perhaps, this country could be recast and accommodate people who only speak Spanish. if you want that go south of the border. I call on all humans of Hispanic heritage to come to the US to be an American, in the United States, not in Estados Unidos. YOu have to right to your language, no more than a Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean or Nigerian American... you get my gist. Ya Basta. peace

Soto is a disgrace to all educated American Hispanic women. She has no class. This was a commencement speech and supposed to be about the graduates not her ethno-centric, radical, liberal Chicano political views. She ruined the graduation ceremony for these kids...she spewed the typical talking points and seemed not to be ashamed to so publicly show her lack of eloquence or original thought. What a kook. No class at all. Secure the border. Enforce the laws. Si Se Puede! Ya es hora! from the Wise Latina 2 the Right

This professor is out of line and it's sad for the graduates. She ruined their graduation ceremony..for the left they care not about anyone else or the dignity of the events they are invited to..as long as they have a mike and can use the bully pulpit to spew their leftist, radical propaganda. Wholly inappropriate at a graduation ceremony. Hint: this "Chicano" professor does not speak for all Americans of Hispanic descent, not all of us put the interests of illegal aliens over that of the safety, health and welfare of citizens, legal residents and the courageous law enforcment officials who are on the front lines risking their lives to protect us from the violent trans-national gangs, human traffickers and drug cartels.

How sad for the students to be used as pawns by this woman for her own personal agenda. Keep screaming racism all you want, but enforcement is not racist! Why do people from South of our border deserve more of a chance than anyone else that wants to come here legally and work hard from anywhere on the planet? If this stereo type isn't a form of racial profiling than I don't know what is? We all know that not everyone that crosses the border just wants to come here and work hard. Plenty of criminals of various sorts cross the border to do America harm and the jails and prisons are proof of this. We can no longer be shamed into letting this problem continue for fear of being called names like racist or non-Christian. Believe it or not we all came here legally via the immigration laws of the times, can you all say the words ELLIS ISLAND? Every country has immigration laws, Mexico has some very harsh ones if you care to study them. States do have the rights to protect themselves and I pray Ga. follows Arizona's suit in getting tougher. Oh and I am of American Indian and Irish decent and do one of the many jobsa lot of morons claim only illegal's want to do and love it and pay ALL my taxes. Wake up & think America illegal's are the worst form of terrorists we will ever face on our own soil!!!

"Amazing that the most eloquent protest against her speech was CUT YOUR HAIR!" There are plenty of good and educated posts about this protest speech but you choose like Sandra Soto, to turn it into a question of race. The American people are sick and tired of being called racists for wanting our laws enforced. Actually you are the one that is ignorant because you have failed to assimilate to the American Culture. Soto is another Mexican that refuses to assimilate to our culture yet calls everyone racists for not welcoming illegal aliens. I say if you do not like the USA go back to Mexico, try to protest there and see what happens.
