Have you seen, heard or read something interesting lately?
Tip your editorsMember Pete Wilson the former California governor who, in 1994, supported "Prop 187", which sought to ensure that illegal immigrants had no access to basic health care and education? And then, when it was found unconstitutional by a federal court, remember how he continued to fight for it? Well, Pete Wilson is the campaign manager for Republican Meg Whitman who's now running for governor of that state. Just know that as you watch this generic "Yo Amo Mexicans" ad she released yesterday. The woman wants you to believe she wouldn't sell your children on ebay if it would line her pocket. She doesn't support Arizona! She's the Republican who opposed Prop 187! (Oh, she's the one.) She opposed it so much, she hired its most ardent supporter to manage her campaign! Ajua! (Plus, she thinks the legalization of pot is "the worst idea she's ever seen." COME ON.)
Watch Meg Whitman's Spanish-Language Campaign Ad For The California Governor Race
Meg Whitman has publicly set a goal for herself to become the California Republican who finally mends the wounds left by Prop 187, a measure that has inspired some California Latinos to vote straight ticket Democrat ever since. This poses a bit of a problem now that Latino voters make up 18 percent of the electorate in that state. Whitman's been pushing hard to convince Latinos that she's a different kind of Republican ever since she announced her candidacy in November of last year. Check out this video where she actually says, "You go girl," to the millions of Latina entrepreneurs out there who are not cleaning her house. (Or maybe they are. Do maids count as entrepreneurs?)Watch Meg Whitman Latino Vote Video
But it's difficult to see the change when her choice of campaign manager is the guy who saw nothing wrong with wilting on his entire voting record in order to win a re-election. When Wilson was a senator in the 1980's, he lobbied Regan for amnesty for illegal immigrants. It was only after he became governor and the country had a recession in the early 90s that Governor Wilson’s approval ratings fell to 15%, and he jumped on the "Prop 187" bandwagon. Something to think about as you watch Ms. Whitman in her sombrero. You go girl. What do you think?

When Jerry Brown becomes the next Governor of CA NutMeg can go into retirement with fellow racists Pete Wilson, Lou Dobbs and hopefully Jan Brewer.
ReplyWas totally on the fence about this campaign, but now I know I'm going to vote for her.
ReplyI just voted for her... that's what we need in california. No Brown.. why we want to go back to the past? voting for Brown is like voting for No-bama!!
ReplyI hope you're being sarcastic. If you're not, you're an idiot.
ReplyBrown is nothing like Obama. I am old enough to remember Brown when he was Governor, and he did a fantastic job. Whitman has no experience, and if she gets in she will continue to slash education funding, and she will privatize the water supply. Yes, that's the next GOP scheme. Water for the rich. She only needs 30% of the Latino vote to win, and I hope Latinos are not dumb enough to fall for her lies.
ReplyYeah, I'm voting for her. Twice, if I can get away with it. Because that's how we Republicans roll.
