Have you seen, heard or read something interesting lately?
Tip your editorsThe Chilean government has released a video of the 33 miners trapped underground in Chile. The miners -who are now aware that it could take until Christmas before they are rescued - sing the Chilean national anthem and shout "que viva Chile, que vivan los mineros!"
One of the miners gives a tour of the 600-square-foot shelter and shows where the men eat, sleep and pray.
The mining company that hired the workers says is it is nearly bankrupt and cannot afford to pay the trapped miners salaries while they are underground. To their relief, a Chilean judge has frozen $1.8 million of the mine's revenue to ensure the men are compensated.
The Chilean newspaper La Tercera also posted more of the video on its Web site.

Any Chileans on the site today?
ReplyThe $1.8 million ruling was made by a local judge in Copiapó so we still have to wait and see if the company will pay up. Sadly it sounds like it's still going to be a battle to secure pay and compensation for the miners http://www.cooperativa.cl/subsecretario-desecho-pago-de-indemnizaciones-a-mineros-con-recursos-estatales/prontus_nots/2010-08-28/133846.html
