The Brazilian presidential elections are heating up as witnessed by this chaotic video of a crowd gathered outside a radio station in the Rio de Janeiro neighborhood of Campo Grande yesterday where presidential hopeful Jose Serra was doing an appearance. While walking through the crowd after the interview, a fight broke out between revelers and Serra was struck on the head with a "heavy object" that Brazilian press later identified as a roll of tape. Serra was reported to be uninjured, but he took the rest of the day off to get x-rayed and take a rest after saying he felt dizzy. He blamed the assault on supporters of his political rival Dilma Roussef, who has been hand-picked by Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to succeed him and was the favorite to win. However, Rousseff failed to win enough votes in the primaries to clinch an early victory. The fight, some analysts say, is another sign that the race is getting tighter. Roussef's party, of course, denied any involvement. The final election will be held on October 30.
