Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona just announced at a press conference that her state will countersue the United States Department of Justice over SB1070 for, among other things, failure to secure their border with Mexico. Above is raw video of a press conference held about two hours ago in front of Sandra Day O'Connor courthouse in Phoenix. The shouts of protesters can be heard throughout the 13 and a half minute clip.

Newly sworn in State Attorney General Tom Horne, the one who won his election by using his previous position of Arizona state superintendent of public instruction to outlaw Chicano Studies, was on hand to outline the five points the counter claim will cover:

  1. Failure to achieve and maintain operational control of the Arizona-Mexico border
  2. Failure to protect Arizona as the U.S. Constitution requires
  3. Failure to enforce/follow immigration laws
  4. Failure to reimburse Arizona for more than $763 million in costs for incarceration of criminal aliens
  5. Violating Arizona's 10th Amendment, failure to protect Arizona citizens' welfare

Oh, and by the way, Brewer would like you to help pay for it so they've set up a legal fund. That sounds reasonable, doesn't it? You don't have a job, but you can spare your lunch money to help run the Mexicans out of town because then you can take their jobs as a dishwasher or shit picker upper in the hot sun. Win-win.

In happier news, Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) announced today he won't be running for re-election. Probably only making room for some other nut.

Eff that bitch, eff her in the effing neck. The federal government does not need to comply with the Arizona constitution, Arizona needs to comply with the US constitution, not the other way around. Stupid bitch.

This governor can sue until the cows come home, and it will not change a thing...She needs to find something to do that will help all people in her state, instead of the bigotry, hate and fear mongering that spews from her mouth...She's a damn disgrace..I'm glad I don't live in her state...

I'm currently taking a sociology class on immigration at UCLA by a well-known immigration professor, and it turns out that Mexicans along with most immigrants actually do not compete with the native born population for jobs. Also, in my sociology of race, class and gender, we learned that it has been proven through studies that everytime the economy tanks, white Americans who are already racist blame the colored minorities regardless of them taking jobs or not, mainly because it is easier for them to blame those who look nothing like them than to blame their leaders for their failure to lead and crimininalize the rich bankers who actually tank the economy. So, Jan Brewer and every public service employee should actually be forced to take a class on immigration and race, it would make this world a better place.
