The young girls you see above are Claudia Ramirez Contreras, 21, and her sister Eunice Ramirez, 19, and they're standing outside of their prison cell in Ciudad Juarez. Both of them are accused of kidnapping.
The picture were taken by Katie Orlinsky and they're part of a piece the New York Times ran in their SundayReview section over the weekend. The article focuses the role women play inside Mexico's ongoing drug war which is something that's been getting more attention. It's an interesting read but the pictures are quite telling, too.
