Arizona Recalled State Senator Russell Pearce Like A Bad Chevy

Arizona State Senate President Russell Pearce—the architect of Arizona anti-immigrant law SB 1070 and the self-proclaimed president of the Tea Party—was fired by voters yesterday in a landmark recall election. In his place, Republican moderate and SB 1070 opponent Jerry Lewis is left standing. (Not THAT Jerry Lewis.) This is apparently the first time a State Senator has been recalled in the history of America. Pearce is that big of a butthole.

Though Pearce out-fundraised Lewis through powerful gun and prison lobbies from outside his voting district, a bipartisan, grassroots movement by the people called Citizens for a Better Arizona organized a statewide effort to cast out this wicked, wicked white supremacist endorser from their legislative body. The resulting vote left Lewis ahead of Pearce 53.4% to 45.3%.

Arizonans I have one thing to say to you: It's about damn time. But, enough rubbing your noses in I told you so. Actually, you guys might be ahead of the curve on this experience. You have walked the xenophic mile that the rest of America is still flirting with, and you have seen with your own stinky toes what kind of foot fungus can come about from such thinking. Sorry, I started with the walking a mile metaphor and then I had to finish it out. Suffice it to say, nothing good comes from xenophobic legislation.

As Senator Pearce joins the rest of the unemployed masses after being thrown to the Arizona curb with the other rock-dwelling reptiles, he says that he will spend a little time with "my God, my wife, and my family and reassess where we need to go." Do me a favor, Russell. Tell Satan I said hi.
