Last week a 10-year-old girl from Manaure, Colombia had to undergo a c-section in order to deliver her 3 pound baby. The young mother, a member of the indigenous Wayuu people, never saw a doctor before giving birth.

How did this happen? According to Primer Impacto's vague reporting, nobody from the girl's community is "willing to speak about the circumstances of the incident" and, I guess, the person who took the minor to the hospital was never asked any questions. Local authorities are dealing with this case cautiously since the Wayuu have their own jurisdiction, but Alejandro Samplayo, director of Colombia's Bienestar Familiar (Planned Parenthood or sorts), says Colombian law does penalize underage rape.
