In her upcoming Aqui y Ahora interview, a nostalgic Carla Morrison talks about living the "Mexican dream" instead of the much-lauded American counterpart. Although this "fronteriza" [border girl] now lives in Mexico City, Carla did give gringolandia a go by moving to Arizona years ago. But Arizona wasn't for Carla; there, the Tecate, Baja California native ended up feeling "alone." Moving back to the motherland certainly paid off for Miss Morrison; she's currently a top-selling artist, plays sold-out shows, and has tons of fans that follow her every move.

Frankly, I'm a little surprised Carla was interviewed by Aqui y Ahora just because the show very square and hardly ever about indie music. Whatever the reason, Carla's success should be an inspiration to all Latina musicians out there -- especially for the ones looking to make a name for themselves in their own Latin American countries.
