Last week Salma Hayek was quoted telling German Vogue that she "barely had any recollection of what it's like to be a Mexican woman" which, of course, sounded pompous and ridiculous. I figured something was lost in translation and that's precisely what her Cari Ross, her publicist, is saying. Cari is also saying that Salma said all this:
“I have never denied my background or my culture…It saddens me when my words are lost in translation and taken out of context to hurt the people of Mexico, whom I love.”
See? That Salma is more Mexican than a bowl of diced nopales slathered with Valentina hot sauce and served on Cinco de Ma -- er, 15 de septiembre, I mean.
